Dr. Horwitz was born in Skokie, IL and raised in Hilo, HI. He earned his medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston, IL and went on to become Chief Resident. He stayed in Evanston as a Hospitalist and Clinical Instructor for the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University before beginning his Gastroenterology training at Aurora Healthcare in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Horwitz is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Horwitz enjoys Gastroenterology for its variety of endoscopic procedures, as well as the complex problems it presents and the long-term patient relationships that come with treating such diseases. He is interested in inflammatory bowel disease and genetic predispositions for gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Horwitz also enjoys teaching medical students and residents.
Dr. Horwitz lives with his wife, who is originally from Kansas City, and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, sports, movies and outdoor activities.

Recently had my first colonoscopy at this facility with Dr Horowitz. The staff (from front desk to nurses to Dr Horowitz were extremely kind, professional, and made me feel comfortable and confident their hands. I would definitely recommend. The only reason for 4 stars is that heir policy to arrive an hour prior to your appointment time. I didn’t see the purpose of this as I was not called back until after my scheduled appointment time. The paperwork was very quick so there was just an extra hour of sitting in the waiting area. Other than that, I will definitely schedule with them again in the future.
The time with Dr Horwitz was efficient, professional and he came across as very caring. The wait time was minimal. He was very open for discussion and questions. It was a very positive experience
