"Great service, I was given an appointment the following day. I didn’t have t wait long, the nurse was prompt. Dr. Horwitz was very thorough and answered all my questions.My only disappointment which was out of their control was scheduling. My circumstances dictated my procedure required it be done in the hospital unfortunately it was booked up to January. "LOVED the Dr, but the billing/verification of benefits process needs work.. Dr was excellent and I won’t give less than a 5-star because he really was excellent and having worked in the medical field, I know what a good bedside manner is. So thank you, Dr. Horwitz, for making an unpleasant procedure a pleasant experience. I was extremely nervous and you calmed my nerves. I am very grateful for that. BUT. May I speak my peace about the collections/billing process. I understand that you are providing a service and many medical bills are sent to collections, etc. And yes, you should get fully compensated for the services you provide. But, may I suggest that a $350 deposit not be collected up front in the event that definite benefits are verified by a benefits/insurance specialist beforehand? I informed the scheduler that I was familiar with my medical benefits, that a preventative colonoscopy, whether routine or diagnostic, (and clearly stated on my plan benefits), it would be covered at 100%, but regardless of this, I still had to pay an unexpected and immediate $350 deposit. Then, I had to wait nearly 2 months for a refund. I feel if the deposit is required immediately, then the same timely courtesy be given when issuing a refund. With claims being filed electronically, and the status of them easily accessible, I believe your billing system can expedite the refund process. I also inquired about my refund multiple times and the office said it had been placed in the mail, when it fact the check was dated several days AFTER I was told it had already been mailed. Maybe you outsource this because my refund check was mailed from Texas. I just feel this adds more work for your billing staff as well as stress to your patients. Anyways, if at all possible please implement a benefits verification process, or at minimum, issue the refunds quicker. Truly the most painful part of this procedure (next to the prep of course!) was the unanticipated deposit and waiting so long for the refund. Thanks!"
