Dr. Utarnachitt graduated from New York University with a dual major in musicology/biochemistry and was awarded the Hannah van Vollenhollen Vories Memorial Prize for outstanding musicologist. He completed his masters in public health from Boston University and his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco – Fresno MEP. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and has been nominated many times for the Internal Medicine teaching faculty of the year and the prestigious Kaiser Award for teaching excellence.
Dr. Utarnachitt is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Utarnachitt comes from a family of physicians. He chose the field of gastroenterology for the wide range of complex disease and the variety of challenging medical procedures. Dr. Utarnachitt enjoys spending time with his wife, who is originally from Kansas City, and his three daughters. He enjoys traveling, music, sports, working on cars and camping.

I can’t remember her name but the nurse who took me back and got me prepped for my endoscopy was the sweetest woman ever. She let me ramble while she put the iv in for my anxiety, and explained everything clearly and concisely. The doctor was pleasant and professional, though I only spoke with him for a few minutes before the procedure. The anesthesiologist and nurse cracked jokes once I was in the room to keep me calm, which helped me not feel so awkward about the giant plastic piece in my mouth. All in all one of the best medical experiences I’ve had. You can tell that everyone there likes working together, it was almost a laid back atmosphere, but still very professional. This is Phoebe Monsees, I would highly appreciate you passing my comments on to my team, they were great!

Very professional. Even though it’s basically an assembly line type process, they are friendly and informative and make sure you are comfortable with everything.
Rating a colonoscopy is like rating sleep. I don't remember anything. His staff was pretty cool and the doc gave me good results. Next visit is scheduled for 2029.

Overall a positive experience for my first colonoscopy. Communication was confusing at the start. PDF fliers on Prep had conflicting and confusing information since I didn’t know what to expect. When I arrived at hospital I was instructed to go to the office upstairs not the procedure check in area. Admin assistant at office treated me like I was an idiot for going there. I’d never been to even consult with Doctor in person, so had no idea.
Procedure check in went well. Nurse who took me back was so very kind and helpful. The whole time up to arriving in the procedure room felt welcoming and inviting, but once I got rolled into the room, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt: roll over, you’re going to go to sleep, then it was over. Before I went out I saw people I didn’t know come into the room and it felt like too many people in a small space. I was vulnerable (like anyone with their ass in the air).
Waking up was strange, but I felt ok with the same nurse there to help me out of the sleep. Glad to see photos of insides were clear and a 10 year pass until the next.
Overall, positive, but a couple of hiccups in the process gave me anxiety about the experience. Happy to discuss further if interested.

The nurse and Dr was very polite and informative about my concerns and explained everything that I needed and was very nice and understanding. Thanks for all your help.
They were able to give me a very quick appointment after an ER visit and also a very quick appointment for my tests to be done all in the same day to minimize my having to take off work for multiple appointments. Very friendly staff and Dr. U is very attentive and easy to talk to. He also makes sure to listen to your concerns and not make you feel rushed.
The entire office was very nice, put my anxiety to ease!
